CGS81 as a Stereo Output Mixer questions

CGS81 as a Stereo Output Mixer questions

2013-12-23 by Stephen Richards

Hi Ken

I have completed the COA panel #4 all except the CGS81 Panel Wiring. All clear sailing with everything working first time ; not calibrated yet.

On the Output Mixer , I have wired only the CCW's (GND Bussed) and CW (Individual Panel Inputs on Each) for the Gain Pots.

My questions are :

Where does the Gain Pot wiper signal go ? Straight to the Pan Pots ?

How do i make a Pan Pot from a Single Gang Pot (...not sure i can from my research.)

Am i right to assume that after the Pan Pots , the signal would go Via the Tip of the AUX Jack to the Tip of the Output Jack ?

Or will i be bussing the Left and Right signals together off the Pan Pots , then to the PCB inputs respectively ; followed by PCB Outs to the Tip of the AUX Jack , then to the Tip of the Output Jack ?

Look at the schematic. It's practically a wiring diagram.

You will need extra resistors that will be mounted directly between the
pots, at the panel.

Re: CGS81 as a Stereo Output Mixer questions

Hi Ken

I have looked at the Schematic again and what i see it as , is :

Banana > Gain Pot , wired as described in my last email > Wiper of Gain Pot via a 100K Resistor to Wiper of Pan Pot.> Pan Pot CCW to one side of the PCB Input.> Pan Pot CW to other side of the PCB Input ; both with 100K Installed on PCB.> Inverted Outputs of PCB to Left and Right Output Jacks.

Just wanting to figure out if this is right or not.

Thanks again.

Hi Stephen,

not even close, I'm afraid. you are still trying to wire it as a processor.

There are 47k and 150k resistors involved and you didn't even mention them.
Pan pot wiper goes to ground. Follow the actual link I gave you and look at
the diagram on that page.

Drokk !! Sorry Ken. I did not look at the actual link you gave me , that's much clearer. I'm sure i can sort it from there.

Thanks and Happy Xmas to you and the Ponies.
