SuperPsycho question

SuperPsycho question

2004-03-25 by R. Drake

I'm building my SuperPsycho, but having trouble finding 1meg pots that fit
my form factor (i want all 6 of the individual speed controls vertically in
a fracRack format). Could i use 100k pots, if i upped the 2 caps by a
factor of 10 (from 220nf/2.2uf to 2.2 uf/22uf)? And what abt the 4.7k
resistor in series w/ the speed pot?

BTW, pictures of my rig & various others from the Analog Heaven MidWest
gathering now available at:

http://www.ph.k12.in.us/~drew/ahmw/pics/2004/index.html

Lots of CGS modules in attendance!

thanks,

You could. You would need to reduce the 4k7 to 470 ohms too.

Hi all.

Easy one I hope. If using 47k LIN pots for the 6 speed controls,
would changing the caps around the speed pot to 4.7uF/47uF,
and the series resistor to 220 or 240 ohms work OK?

Also, has anyone found any magic combinations of speed
settings for the 6 lfos, or ratios between them?

TIA

Dave.

Keeping the ratio whould keep the time constants the same - however as the
caps get larger, the charging load on the chip output will increase. The
chips maximum output max be exceeded, resulting in delays being longer than
expected/frequencies lower than expected. That said, it should probably work
okay, though I wouldn't want to see a lower resistance than 220R in series.

australia-specific - PSU Query

2005-02-19 by stk

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good +-15v psu similar to the motm / blacet units
available in Australia at a decent price?
I'd like to exhaust local options before ordering one from the US, and
don't feel confident building my own.

cheers,
Skye.

Hi Skye,

I am in Australia and can supply a suitable power supply (www.elby-designs.com/power/asm2-powersupplies.pdf) built around the LM723. This comes as a kit and requires a transformer but as long as you apply some common-sense safety rules when wiring up the mains connections then it is an easy task to build yourself. If still not keen on that then I can build it for you and house it in a suitable case.
Best Regards
(Mr) Laurie Biddulph
