crumar organizer 2

2002-09-23 by florent balestrieri

Hello, I've not found any information about the organizer 2. Is it a
good organ ?
I bought one recently but it don't work very well. (no sound, only the
lights on the buttons)
I want to repair it.
I presume lot's of you did experience such problem, so I'm waiting for
your advices (and your help if you mind)

Thank's a lot.

I suppose you are talking about the T2. I have a similar problem . I have
one which is missing the frequency dividers, they are a set of 14 IC that
divide the frequency of the osc on the keyboard. I'm trying to repair it
Try to locate this IC and check them. Also, do you have schematics for the
T2? If you have them, would you please give me a copy? thx

I have seen on this forum that organizer T2 is a new version of
organizer 2. (anyone could confirm that ?)

and no, I don't have any schematics, and I don't know any thing of the
electronic inside. it's the reason of my message : HEEEELP ME!!!

probably, the schematics are not the same (T2 vs 2)

No, organizer T2 iz not a new version of organizer 2.

The real story about Crumar Organizer is:

About 1974 CRU-cianelli MAR-io began to produce a total copy of
Hammond organ - Organizer: single manual keyboard with 12 separate
tone generators from C to B each. It has Hammond patented resistor
network to add the "leakage" noise generated by the tone-wheels
and "original" percussion circuit board. There are only transistors,
capacitors and resistors inthere, no ICs!

Features:
- 61 single manual
- 9 drawbars: 16', 5 1/3', 8', 4', 2 2/3', 2', 1 3/5', 1 1/3', 1'
- 3 presets - 16', 5 1/3', 8'
            - 16', 1'
            - "full organ"
- percussion knobs: 4'(= "second"), 2 2/3'(= "third"), 2 2/3', 2'
- percussion decay & volume slide controls
- vibrato speed & depth slide controls
- no bass pedals!

As it was one of the first clones of Hammond organ, they should stop
the unauthorized production of real copy of Hammond organs: they put
1 sine wave tone generator with IC dividers to 12 tones in Organizer,
providing so called "Farfisa" or "VOX Continental" tones. Two manual
version of this was called Organizer 2 - still analog device.

Adding some ICs toward digitalisation resulted in Organizer T1, so we
can not call two manual version T2 as new Organizer 2!!

I still have and play perfect Organizer with ELKATONE 610PR Leslie
(made by Pietro Crucianeli's ELKA). This couple has such a "Hammond"
sound, that listeners of LPs, where I recorded some parts with
Organizer/ELKATONE and another with Hammond M100 / 142 Leslie, can
not differ them :-))

And this couple Organizer/ELKATONE is still perfectly working after
28 years of stage and tours as jazz rock band keyboard.

As I "grabbed" Organizer as Demo piece with serial No. 00000132 from
Italian music shop in 1974, I have no User Manual, no Technical
documentation even no Warranty :(

i just picked up this organ. haven't even cleaned the dust off yet.
it's in amazingly good shape for its age. two of the three metal name
plaques still have the factory plastic film on them. everything
works, but i think i need to open it up and clean things up a bit.
the expression pedal quit working an hour afer firing it up, but i was
told it was an easy fix(burned out bulb). the guy threw in a univox
pro verb, which adds nicely to the sound. i've primarily played
guitar for the last 20 years, so i consider myself a hack on the keys.
still, though, it's fun to play, and apparently not very common.
anyone have any pithy advice or humourous antecdotes about this
particular beast?

Yes, i have one of these keyboards as well, though not in as good
condition as yours. Its also called the Haven61. I think it sounds
really good. It also seems to be the portable version of the other
organ i have, and have put photo's up on this site, the Haven by Crumar
with its built in leslie speaker..

The Haven61 sounds amazing in recordings, when you add a nice reverb to
it. Very soulfull, authentic sound.

Hope you enjoy it. How much did you get it for?

Im currently trying to sell my Haven by Crumar organ, but as yet havent
had any takers. If anyone lives near Glasgow, scotland and are
interested in it, let me know. I need the space.

Thrum
