Crumar Spirit troubles...

Crumar Spirit troubles...

2006-11-29 by filmrave

I just found out about this group and hope to find some help. My Spirit got shipped via
airfraight and although nicely packed got a bit damaged.....with the transformer inside flying
around and so. I desperately need to find some schematics. Any help or lead very much
appreciated.

thanks, Karl

PS. any chance to put one into the files section?

Yeah - that transformer! Held in place ONLY by the 4 or 5 wires going
in and out of it. Crazy. My Spirit was the same, but it hadn't even
been in an aeroplane. Just about managed to splice solder the wires
back and then secured the thing with hefy cable ties.

Is it just the trafo, or has it damaged other stuff?

Do a web search for "Mark Glinsky's Manual Manor", I think he has
schematics.

Good luck,
Matt.

Hi Everybody,

thanks for all your help! Too many names to mention;-) I was referred to Oliver and he went
to the troubles to scan the paper files he had and emailed them to me - amazing and very
very appreciated.
No, I wanted to post the schematics onto the files section but got refused because of file size
too big - it's 2 megs only though.
Anyway, anybody wanting or needing these hard to find schematics, please drop me a line
and I'm happy to forward them for the fair amount of $25.00......just kidding;-)

muchas gracias again, Karl

I can clear out the Stratus schematics to make some space if eveyone who
wants them has taken them.

Hey Karl,

What's your Spirit's serial number? I'm still curious about how many
were actually made. High serial numbers would give an indication.

Thanks,
Matt.

My Spirit's # number is 00110. That'd be another one with # 110? Mine is a 220V model if
that makes a difference?

best Karl

I have a bad transformer in my Trilogy. I haven't found an exact match for sale my local electronics stores. can someone tell me the basics on when you can and cannot other transformers that aren't exact matches? Too vague, sorry, I don't have the synth in front of me.

I had a similar problem with my spirit
The transformer was replaced

btw, the serial # on my spirit is 110

my question is did they start numbering at 100?
since the only serial numbers I remember seeing so far are in the 100's

Well, my serial number is N1 00020. 220v. I can't remember where my
records are now, but I think 110 is one of the highest I've heard.

Rumour had it "as little as 100, as many as 300" were made. If we've
perhaps got an N1 110 and an N2 110 then that's at least 220 out there
somewhere. I wonder if the N2 and N1 relate to the voltage - or perhaps
the colour. There was a mid brown wood and a very light / white wood. So
who's got which? For the record, mine is the mid brown wood.

Cheers folks,
Matt.

Hello all,

thanks to the schematics I was able to be clear about how to re-attach my
dislodged transformer.....unfortunately I found out that something had
happened to it, measuring across reveals that it is shorted.

Question now is: anybody know where to get the Œcorrect¹ replacement
transformer. Or could I use just any that has the same specs like 110V in
and 20V out? What¹s confusing me is that the schematics (as well as the
shortened- transformer have actually 3 outs, that is +/- 20V as well as
ground. the transformers I find at Allied etc. all seem not to have
this....?

As you might see, I¹m not the expert really even if I try pretending hard;
any and every enlightenment would be very welcome and appreciated;-)

best, Karl

Los Angeles

PS. the schematics can be found in the file section.....!

Are you 100% sure the transformer is shorted? The output resistance
of a transformer should be very low, and might appear shorted even on
a good one. Going short like that is a fairly unusual transformer fault.
Does the transformer have any serious physical damage?
