Possibly. But then, it may be that as you moved from CRTs to LCDs, to more advanced LCDs, that several year old Spyder 1 became more and more challenged by the newer screen types. The Spyder 3 has a lot of hardware improvements (even from the Spyder 2, let alone from the Spyder 1) so its not reasonable to expect either the old software, or the old sensor, to live up to current expectations.
