Hi Pat,

Thanks for getting back. No real confusion I was just "tagging on " to the
thread and that might not have been the best thing to do.

I don't have the entire thread anymore since I deleted it but I seem to
remember CD or someone addressing the target size question by using the term
"print thru Windows" and adjusting the margin size in the driver. I print
the target one of two ways: thru Spyder3 Print or QImage; I was just curious
if there was another way to print (Other than PhotoShop).

I was also curious about the black box outline for the white square (J10?)
since the box outline prints when using QImage but not Spyder3 Print. The
box is very helpful since the white square is almost the color of the paper
and the box helps to align/position the colorimeter.

is the following - and I am using Windows XP Pro SP3. But that really
doesn't matter.

I just got my Spyder3Studio a week or so ago. I had trouble centering the
Spectro on the patches as printed out with the 225 patch target as it prints
from the Spyder Print software. The ensuing issue was printing a larger
target of patches. Although having my Epson 2200 printer for some years I
have never tried to change the image size in the print driver, having always
done that in Photoshop. Now I see how to do it in the printer dialog. My
earlier post had to do with finding the proper target file to print using
Photoshop (so I could resize there). The only file I found had that black
outline around J10.

Way too much info I know. Ignore my comment, or don't worry about it
regarding the black outline on J10. It is there in the target file I found,
but it has no effect on Spectro readings. If you are printing from the
Spyder software and are happy then fine. Evidently most people are. Myself,
now that I see how to increase the size (decrease the margins) in my Epson
driver dialog I'm happy too because it's easier to center the Spectro on the
larger patches.

I only go through all this because it seems you thought there may be a
problem here that is (actually was) only mine.

That said, I still stick by my note many entries earlier, that a person
needs to pay more careful attention to reading the patches than you might
think - even with larger patches. Maybe, probably, it's just me but go
slowly and deliberately. In other words, take three seconds instead of one
or two per patch - no big deal. Put the Spectro down solidly and level, then
after you hear the double click feedback from the reading, wait a beat or
two before you pick up and move the Spectro snout. 

Try it for yourself. While looking at the Spectro snout on the paper, as
soon as you hear the second click feedback immediately pick it up. Often you
will see a red light under there that can't be good - the little guy isn't
done I'm thinking. I'm talking about waiting only a half second or so before
picking up.

So far, with my steep learning curve, I've profiled Epson Premium Luster,
Epson Velvet Fine Art, and Epson Enhanced Matte. The profiles print as well
as anyone could expect. Of course I calibrated my monitor first with the
Spyder3Elite. Really happy with the Spyder3Studio gear.
