Ugly measurements from targets?

2010-07-30 by mageseeker52

Problem:
Measured and printed target versions are not even remotely close?

System: Mac pro 17in with Snowleapord
Monitor calibration 2.2 / 5800 with Spyder3elite: (recommended)
Spyder3print SR:
Printer: Epson 2200 OEM ink
Paper: Moab Entrada Rag bright white 190GSM

Settings: Epson color controls - color adjustment set to "off" - Enhanced Matte @ 1440 highspeed.
High Quality Targets plus Grays
everything cleaned after first reading.

I get the same readings regardless whether the targets are printed through print3 SR, Photoshop CS4 or Lightroom 2. To the eye, all the printed targets look the same. The measurements display as a muddied grey with a hint of color tone with. Absolutely horrid!

I cannot find any information or direction on this matter.

Are the measured colors suppose to match the printed version?

Watching datacolor video's on this topic shows both the printed and the measured are simlar in appearance but the original is much brighter. Mine are not even close?

cheers but please help
