A scanner-based profile does not have a very clear idea about out of gamut colors, as it does not have spectro-level accuracy. So trying to see out of gamut color shifts through a scanner-built profile is deceptive.

Just to get everyone on this thread on the same page: is everyone using AdobeRGB as their RGB workingspace? And is everyone working from photographic images, not out of gamut vector colors?
