David,
Don't get discouraged. It does have a learning curve, but the results
are worth the work that you invest into it. I've had mine for a couple
of months and am still discovering (learning) new things on a regular
basis. At first it does seem rather overwhelming, but with patience,
you'll surprise yourself. There is one thing I have discovered, there
are just some paper, printer, ink combinations that just do not seem to
work very well together. For example, I've spent the better part of
two days with Ilford Galerie Smooth Glossy, Epson 1280 printer, and
MIS color inks; and have been unable to get satisfactory results. At
this point I've cut my losses and gone to another paper to profile.
Your friend in Photography,
Johnny
