New to PrintFix Pro

New to PrintFix Pro

2006-07-02 by Keith R.

Hi all!
I finally got arount to installing(and registering) my PFP tonight,
and knew of an update so I downloaded the beast and installed it also.
I hope to spend some time this weekend reading the "manual" before I
dig and and start making profiles. My first question is an easy one. I
now have versions 1.0 and 1.1.1 icons on my desk top. Can I remove the
1.0 version(and corresponding icon)?

You shouldn't have a problem and of course you will want to use the newer version.

The icons (this is the Windows version you're talking about, I would assume)
are just shortcuts, so you can always delete them if you want.

One thing, though, is that it doesn't sound like you uninstalled 1.0 (otherwise
the uninstaller would have deleted the shortcuts on your desktop, along with
the rest of the software).

This should be a problem, because the 1.1.1 installer will overwrite existing
files from the older version and it will also remove the spectro driver
from the older version and install a newer driver, even without your having
run the 1.0 uninstaller.

Bottom line is this: If you can launch the new version; it comes up
and says release version 1.1.1 in the "splash" screen; and if you can
communicate properly with the spectro (go into Preferences, it will show
up as connected; and you can calibrate it and take measurements); then
you should be fine.

Best regards,

Sure, there's no reason to retain both. If you came up with some exotic bug issue with v1.1.1 you could always reload v1.0 from CD, though I've not heard of any such cases.
