225 or the 729 ptaches

225 or the 729 ptaches

2006-07-25 by ed_limmy

Hi guys,
I'm about to pick up the printfix pro tomorrow. I"ve been thinking and
mulling about on the prinfix pro ever since the reviews came out. WHile
i believe i've gotten to use the canned canon profiles quite well with
some tinkering of the color sliders at the printer drivers and now
lately having to manually add more red in the hue/saturation function
to add a dash of redness to skin tones - i think i'm coming very close
to having it perfect. sTill I'm going for the printfix pro to see if it
can improve things.

One question - do you stick with the 225 patch reading or do you end up
needing the larger 729 patch reading. I once read bruce fraser's color
management book in which i recall he says that more patches doesn't
necessarily mean better profiles. DO you guys agree or not?

thanks.

Ed.

Hi Ed,
I've been using the 225 patch for a while. I just made my first 729
patch reads. I did see a positive difference going with the 729. It
was alittle more work but I think it was worth it.
