Soft Proofing - Ref White/Ref Black tutorial

Soft Proofing - Ref White/Ref Black tutorial

2006-07-28 by ed_limmy

Hi David,
DO you think you can elaborate or provide a tutorial on the functions
of the Ref White and Ref Black? How and when to use them?

I've read the help files on them but still can't comprehend it.

Thanks.

Ed.

Well, then I failed on my first try to explain it. I'm in Tuscany on a
temporary connection at the moment, so I won't be able to write
anything live that will have more detail than the help. I'll take a
look at the help and see if I can determine what would have to be added
to make it better. In a nutshell (and I assume the help covers this,
and more) B&W Ref only effect softproofing, and are used to tune the
whitepoint to the best visual match to your paper or other media, and
the black point to get the ideal match between monitor black and ink
black. It won't effect the print, only the softproof.
