Use a free tool from GretagMacbeth in conjunction with PrintFix Pro

Hi all, I've found a free tool from GretagMacbeth which can be very helpful in comparing two measurements visually. The utility is called ColorLab and can be downloaded from GretagMacbeth. It's found as an additional download under the ProfileMaker product or perhaps you can get it directly from this URL: http://www.gretagmacbeth.com/downloads/400_colorlab_pc-en.zip A Mac version is also available! All you have to do is to export your measurements via the Tools->Export menu function. After that you must format the exported data a little bit to make it readable for the ColorLab tool: Exported data - only 15 lines: 21,39 -2,68 1,32 21,41 4,44 -6,63 23,86 9,74 -21,62 24,63 13,16 -28,93 24,98 15,56 -33,75 24,14 9,16 4,80 21,66 7,89 -0,53 24,25 14,21 -11,19 25,37 18,10 -19,00 25,67 20,55 -24,85 34,21 33,57 17,26 29,27 27,73 6,22 29,39 29,09 -3,90 29,27 30,49 -11,05 29,11 31,72 -17,33 After reformating: Sample_Name Lab_L Lab_a Lab_b END_DATA_FORMAT BEGIN_DATA A1 21,39 -2,68 1,32 A2 21,41 4,44 -6,63 A3 23,86 9,74 -21,62 A4 24,63 13,16 -28,93 A5 24,98 15,56 -33,75 A6 24,14 9,16 4,8 A7 21,66 7,89 -0,53 A8 24,25 14,21 -11,19 A9 25,37 18,1 -19 A10 25,67 20,55 -24,85 A11 34,21 33,57 17,26 A12 29,27 27,73 6,22 A13 29,39 29,09 -3,9 A14 29,27 30,49 -11,05 A15 29,11 31,72 -17,33 END_DATA Usually you will need the complete 225 data cells, but to show the concept this might be ok. I can supply an Excel or OpenOffice Calc template, if anybody wants to try it. Now you only have to start the ColorLab, Open your text file (one or more), which will be rendered as test targets and compare the data via Specials->Comparing. Also quite nice is the 3D view under Tools. The whole procedure it a whole lot easier to do then to describe - see a screenshot here: http://www.rj-photo.de/printfix-pro/ColorLab-Screenshot.jpg Measurement files are also there: http://www.rj-photo.de/printfix-pro/ESP2100-Archival-1440_ex.txt http://www.rj-photo.de/printfix-pro/ESP2100-Archival-720_ex.txt and the Excel or OpenOffice Calc template: http://www.rj-photo.de/printfix-pro/ColorLab-Data.xls http://www.rj-photo.de/printfix-pro/ColorLab-Data.ods I think it's really helpful to compare your measurements this way. It's even interesting to see the differences printing the targets with 720 or 1440 dpi. Ronald --
