Problem with Monitor Profile switching to default setting

Problem with Monitor Profile switching to default setting

2007-02-10 by Tony Hopkinson

Can someone please advise me on this problem?

I've profiled my LCD monitor with Spyder 2 Pro V2.2, and on booting
Windows XP I get the Colorvision box telling me that the profile has
been loaded to the Video card.

Fine ..... but some random time later the Monitor just flips back to
it's uncalibrated setting, and to regain calibration I have to reboot.

Using the Colourvision Profile chooser and clicking refresh doesn't
have any effect.

Also, I've downloaded and installed Windows Color Manager 2.0. This
shows the relevant profiles, but the "Apply" button is greyed out, so I
can't use this either.

Any ideas as to what the problem is, anyone?

Some time later during startup? This would indicate some other application, such as AdobeGamma, flashing your video card with different calibration data. If its later, as in randomly while running, then I have no idea what would be flashing your Video LUTs at some random time. If our utility won't flash it back, then its a question of whether its the LUTs that actually changed, or if color has changed in some other way...

Thanks for the response, David.

The problem occurs at what appears to be a random time after the boot
sequence has completed. Adobe Gamma is disabled, and I can't see
anything else that might be conflicting.

Of course I'm equally puzzled by being unable to regain calibration
using the Profile Chooser, and by the greying out of the "Apply"
button in ICM 2.0. Clearly there's something wrong here, but I
haven't yet fathomed out what it is.
