Target Profile

Target Profile

2007-06-16 by Doug Lenos

I picked up on something from CD Tobie a week or so ago and forgot to ask about it - he mentioned or implied that the target profile print should be done with the rendering intent set to what you plan on using - ie Saturation.. i was under the impression at ALL image profiles need to be off/disabled ... etc.. could David M or CDT please confirm...

When you print the target, there is no rendering intent. It's printed
with color management turned off (rendering intent only applies when color
management is turned on).

The only things that should affect the target print are the settings in the
printer driver: paper/media type, output quality/resolution, etc.

I think what you're talking about here is softproofing through the profile,
when you're in Photoshop; in which case, yes, in View:Proof Setup:Custom,
use the same rendering intent for printing (when you get to that point) that
you're using when you're softproofing.

That makes sense and is what I have been doing and getting great
prints - the only problem I have had is that in the dark shadow areas
(in a baseball player photo w/ hat on) under the hat - shadow on the
forehead - I am getting problems w/ Yellow hue's to the shadow and
the print looks like it maybe has too much ink in that area.. not
usre if that makes sense - is that what bronzing is? this is on prem
glossy paper..

No, I'm being misquoted somehow; there is no profile, thus on intent, when printing targets.
