I just replaced my monitor with an Eizo CG241W. It comes with
hardware based calibration via the enclosed ColorNavigator software.
I'm having issues and hoping someone here may have some insight.

My trouble is I can not get it to recognise the Spyder2. I have
uninstalled the Colorvision Spyder2 Pro software as I heard it
conflicts with ColorNavigator.

I'm in contact with Eizo, and have never received a report of that. It might keep ColorNavigator from communicating with the Spyder if you had Spyder software running, but just having it installed shouldn't be a problem.

I am using Win XP Pro, GeForce 6600GT card, 4 gb ram, core duo 6400.
I'm at a loss what to try next - it seems so simple, as the Spyder
shows up as working fine under Hardware manager.

Beyond that, its Eizo's support issue, since they develop their own support of the Spyder. I can only help you if OUR software won't communicate with it...

I still have Printfix Pro installed (bought the Spyder/Printfix
package). The only other possible issue I can think of is that my Win
XP is installed on D Drive, as I installed Vista on C but have too
many issues with legacy software that I set up dual booting and run
everything under XP for now. I know some software has a fit if C: is
not the main install point.

That might well be an issue, but only Eizo could tell you. In the meantime, you can profile your Eizo with Spyder2PRO, even if ColorNavigator can't find it...

Re: Spyder2 & Eizo ColorNavigator

ok for sake of completeness here I think I know what the issue is but
haven't fixed it yet.

It seems like the latest Spyder software 2.3.5 updates the driver
from cvspydr2.sys to spyder2.sys. ColorNavigator is still looking
for the old driver - so yes it is an issue with Eizo needing to
update software. I have forwarded my thoughts to them today so
hopefully they will get organised.

Meanwhile I tried to roll back to the old driver, but even after
trying to delete all registry refs to spyder2.sys I can't seem to
reinstall the old driver. Seems like a one way driver upgrade.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
