Does Spyder need to lay flat on LCD moniter?

When I calibrate my LCD with Spyder2, does the device need to be laying 
flat and touching the glass.  Due to the stiffness of the wire, it is 
close, but doesn't always touch it.  Should I tilt the moniter or hold 
the spyder with my hand so there is direct contact, or doesn't it 
matter?

Its best to tilt the monitor back, if it tilts, and to manipulate the cable to eliminate any tendency to hold the Spyder2 off the screen. It ideally should be in perfect contact. Thats one reason we moved to a smaller diameter, more supple cable for Spyder3.
