Profile for Premier Fine Art 270 - need help with mottling

2008-01-12 by Tom Moore

Hi

I'm new to this list, so whoever started it, thanks. Thanks also to
the Colorvision staff who seem to be so willing to help. Although new
to the list, I do have some experience with color management and
printer profiling. Here's my problem:

I have switched to MIS Pro color inks for my Epson 2200. They're not
an exact match for OEM inks, so I need new profiles. I have made a
profile for Kirkland (Costco) glossy that's not bad for a first cut.
Now I'm trying to make one for Premier Fine Art. I can't seem to find
a media selection that does not cause mottling. I've tried all three
matte paper settings offered in the printer dialog box. The
Colorvision help file discusses this but doesn't state what to do
about it, except, I guess, choose another setting.

Since I can't select a perfect media setting, I guess I must go into
the Ink Configuration and play with the density. Since I have already
wasted a half dozen sheets of this fairly pricey paper, I thought I'd
ask if anyone else has profiled this paper or even had similar
problems. Any suggestions would be welcome.

By the way, I have checked my printer settings and they are what
Spyder3Print says they should be:

Media Velvet Fine Art
Photo-1440
Color Management ICM with No color adjustment
High Speed and Edge Smoothing checked
