New to PrintFIX Pro

New to PrintFIX Pro

2008-01-12 by Lew

Hi All,
I have just purchased a Print fix pro Suite in order to create print
profiles, in the hope I can resolve the issues of printing on an Epson
R290 direct from Light Room.

I have profiled my monitor as per Spyder2 Pro 2.2-4 software.
I then commenced printing & scanning the print templates with PrintFix
Pro 1.1.1 library version 1.42.
The problem is, after measuring / scanning the colour template (255)
The program fails to respond in "create profile" mode after about 75%
of the progress bar is displayed.
I have registered on the web site to download the latest software
version S2PRO 2.35 & PFPRO 2.1
Will this resolve the issue & can I install straight over the
currently installed versions?

You Help & advice greatly appreciated.

Lew,

You've got bad measurement(s) in your measurement set somewhere, and
that's
what's bogging things down.

Two things to do:

- First, email me a copy of your measurement file, so that I can look it
over and tell you what's wrong. Use PFP's File:Open Data command to open
the folder containing the measurement files, they're all small text
files
with .xml extensions. Do this before you download and upgrade your
software so we can straighten that out before you change anything else.

- Next, you should also upgrade yourself to the latest Spyder3Print 3.0
software. You're 3 versions behind with the 1.1.1 software (having
missed the 2.0, 2.1, and now the renamed 3.0 version). You can download
it for free from the Colorvision web site (if you have problems getting
in there, let me know in your email and I'll send you a link to an
alternate site.).

If it can't build a profile from your measurement set, then the set is
probably incomplete or in error. Try opening the measurement set in the lower half
of the "Read Patches" page as an existing measurement set. Click on the target
view to enlarge it, and then toggle between the 1 and 3 keys to see the pure
and the measured target values. Are their any out of place colors in your
measured values? If so use the arrow keys to reach them, and remeasure (keep in
mind you'll need to have the spectro plugged in, and calibrated, in order to
make measurements). Once you have a full measurement set of appropiate values,
it should build a profile just fine. If not, you'll need to send Dave Miller or
myself a copy of your measurement XML file to troubleshoot.
