Newbe needs advice

Newbe needs advice

2008-04-11 by Wayne

Hi my name is Wayne and I'm living in Wales UK.
I'm having a problem callibrating my dell CRT monitor with the spyder2.
I followed the instructions carefully my monitor needed lots of red
added to match the other colour levels, but the before and after
results were staggering, the before was miles better, the after was a
lot too magenta (and I mean a lot!) I did it in the dark to avoid any
ambiant light affecting the results.
Anybody got any ideas where I might have gone wrong, or is this a
known issue, HELP!!

Thanks Wayne

I assume you are checking the box for RGB Gains controls, and setting your whitepoint by adjusting the individual Gain controls. Since this step seems to be getting you in trouble, the first thing to do is to reset your gains the default values, UNCHECK this box, choose an appropriate whitepoint, and calibration WITHOUT gains adjustments. See if this produces a reasonable result. If so, you have found the step that is causing your problems. If not, then you can move on to looking elsewhere for the problem.
