Reasons to upgrade from Spyder2Pro to Spyder3Pro?

Reasons to upgrade from Spyder2Pro to Spyder3Pro?

2008-09-12 by prof_mgt551

I have read the spec comparisons, but am wondering in the real world
will I see a noticeable improvement in my monitor calibration and
monitor profile? Also will I see an improvement in the screen match
with my prints (made on an Epson 3800 using profiles created by
PrintFixPro Spectrocolorimeter using the v 3.5 software)?

My monitor is a NEC 1990SXi (one of their better displays) and I run
Windows Vista. Thanks for any thoughts that you might have on
this, Ken

I've been very happy with the new Spyder. Having used Colorvision/Datacolor
since the beginning, each product upgrade seems to improve my calibrations.
It is faster, has continuous ambient light monitoring, and offers settings
not available with the model 2. For me - it was well worth the upgrade ~~
and no, I do not have any affiliation with the company.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Spyder3Pro. When you say
that it has improved your calibrations, do you mean in reference to
Spyder2Pro? Also, do you mean it has improved the quality of the
displayed image? In what way? For example, smoother gray scale
gradients than with Spyder2Pro? If you make prints, do you get a
better print to screen match?

See the comparison here:

I do print my own work, using an Epson 3800. EVERYTHING has improved with
the Spyder3. Of course, as I become more experienced (I've been shooting
Nikon for over 40 years), I'm improving too, so maybe it's just me!

Compared to what I spend on cameras, lenses, printers & supplies, the cost
of the Spyder is spare change. You won't regret the upgrade, imho.
