How often does the Utility need to load the VIdeo Card LUT?

How often does the Utility need to load the VIdeo Card LUT?

2008-12-14 by madigan_bill

I notice that my monitor shows a little "blip" every minute. I assume
that is because the Spyder3 v 3.06 Utility preference has a
setting "Load Video Card Lookup Table Every: it is set to 1 minute. I
assume that is that is the default setting. Is it necessary to load the
LUT that often. The screen "disturbance" I see is a bit disconcerting.
I suppose I will get accustomed to it, now that I know (or think I
know) what is causing it.

I asked tech support the following question but did not receive an
answer.

Is Cerification necessary with the new verson 3.06 Utility? Under the
Certification preference tab, the certification is checking every hour.
I believe Certification checks to make sure the LUT is being loaded.
Since the LUT is being reloaded every minute, does Certification just
verify that it is being loaded? I added Certificaton when I calibrated
so I would know that the LUT was loaded - did not know how to verify
that with version 3.04. on Vista 64

Is their a document describing the preference settings in the Utility?

This indicates, not just that Spyder3Utility is checking the LUT, but if it blips every minute, it would also imply that your LUT is not probably correct, or you would not be seeing the blip. So, as well as adjusting the timing, look into what might be conflicting with the Datacolor LUT loading...

1.What do you mean by your that my "LUT is not probably correct"?
2.What timing should I adjust?
3. Telling me that I should "look into what might be conflicting with
the Datacolor LUT loading" is not real helpful. What makes you think
soething is conflicting? This is a fairly clean install of Vista 64.
What do you suggest I should be looking for? I have wasted hours and
hours attempting to figure this out.

If your LUT data is correct, meaning the data that our Utility asked the OS to load is actually still loaded, then when we check it every minute, you should not be seeing any type of blip. So if you are seeing a blip, that would tend to imply that the OS, or some other application or utility, has loaded incorrect data. Thats not the only possibility, but its far the most likely. And its outside our control, its something you'd have to look for yourself, a startup item, or something else going on. Sorry to not be more help with that...
