Calibrating Apple monitor

Calibrating Apple monitor

2009-01-25 by martinschwartz72

I recently purchased and started to use the Spyder Pro 3 to calibrate my
Apple 24" monitor. I am very disappointed since the calibration seemed
way off , the prints I generated were not even close to what appeared on
the screen. I then recalibrated with the software from Apple operating
sysytem and found my prints to be much closer to what appeared on the
screen then the prints I generated from the Spyder calibration.

Any words of wisdom

This is about the only Cinema Display I haven't owned, so I can't speak to this model specifically. But the Cinemas in general, and the Apple LED backlight displays in general, profile nicely with the Spyder3. You would have to be more specific than "way off" to get any more detailed assistance. Perhaps you could send me a description of how its off, and a copy of the profile in question, off list, to the email address below, so I could assist.

I do not know what you mean by Cinema display. The monitor I have is the
I purchased with the iMac about three months ago. At that time I
profiled it with the OS 10 software and the prints were close to what
appeared on the screen. Allowing for the brightness of the monitor and
that I was using EpsonVelvet Fne Art and Ultrasmooth Fine Art paper both
matte papers. I then borrowed a friends Display One and the prints were
even closer. I then purchased the Spyder Pro 3 thinking it would work
just as well and the prints were much darker then what appeared on the
screen. All the other conditions were the same including the paper.

I then went back to the Apple profile and got the same kind of result I
initially got when I first started using the computer. I am printing
with an Epson 3800 Pro.

Thank you for your offer of help. But I do not know how to download the
profile I generated from the Spyder. Please advise.
