Projector calibration/profiling problem

Projector calibration/profiling problem

2009-02-26 by Nathan Gutman

Using WinXP, Spyder2Pro hardware, Spyder 2.3.5 software and Dell 2300mp projector in a completely dark room.
Per Spyder instruction the projector was reset to factory defaults.
Followed carefully ALL instructions displayed by the Spyder software.
Made sure that the projector profile is the default.
Now ALL images/photos displayed on the screen appear extremely bright as if the photos were overexposed by one or two stops.
So what do I do now to get it right?
Thanks,

Check to see if the projector has an sRGB mode. If it does, then set it to sRGB mode and profile again.

 From your description, it is likely that the projector is in presentation mode which makes for bright color charts, but lousy photos.

You are doing this in some manner that assures the profile LUTs are
loaded along with the profile? Such as Profile Chooser?

White can't be too bright with projection (by definition). So it
sounds like its your midtones that are too light. Send me a copy of
the profile (to me, not this list!) and I'll take a look at it. Also
check the checkbox for making other versions of your profile, and try
using those versions.
