Use same monitor profile on two computers?

Use same monitor profile on two computers?

2009-03-01 by Roger

I am wondering if it's possible to transfer a profile for a monitor to
a different computer, connect the monitor to the new computer and then
point windows to the profile? I wouldn't change any monitor settings.

What I'm wondering is if the profile is video-card specific.

The profile is video card/hardware specific. You really need to build a profile for each
monitor/computer setup.

The answer is yes, yes. Yes you can do it, but yes the results can be
videocard specific, especially under Windows. Much less likely to
cause problems going Mac to Mac, as we often do with projector
profiles, when we each make presentations on a projector that only one
of us profiled before the event. We use a USB stick to hand the
profile on to the next presenter.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
