Problems with Spyder 3 Elite on Win XP

Problems with Spyder 3 Elite on Win XP

2009-05-14 by ax42d9w

Hi,

I have recently changed to a Spyder 3 after using a Spyder 2 for a couple of years and am seeing some strange effects.

I have Win XP Pro SP3, An ATI HD4850 video card and two monitors - Dell 2408WFP and Samsung 743B. Both monitors are identified and listed under the Monitors entry in the device manager.

I am using the Microsoft color control to associate the profiles. The color control lists the monitors in the order (from the top) SyncMaster 743B, Dell 2408WFP, SyncMaster 743B, Dell 2408WFP. I'm not sure why there are two entries for each monitor.

The Spyder3Elite 3.0.7 application monitor dropdown box only lists the SyncMaster 743B monitor twice. The profile chooser thinks both monitors are the SyncMaster 743B.

Before I buy another video card, does anyone know why the Spyder can't find the Dell monitor?

I haven't loaded hydravision or catalist, just the latest video drivers from the ATI site. Monitor identify tells me the Dell is monitor 1.

Not my area of specialty. I would suggest you put in a support ticket
at our website, and get technical assistance with this issue.

Thanks David. I ended up installing an ATI HD4550 card and hanging the Samsung monitor off it. With one monitor on each card Spyder3Elite finds both and knows what they are. The Microsoft color control applet now lists one instance of each monitor. I've switched back to using the Spyder 3 utility to load the LUTs
