Need help with Extended Grays

Need help with Extended Grays

2010-03-06 by Phiegze

I can't figure out how to add the extended grays to my existing profile.

I printed 729 Patches on three sheets and Extended Grays the 4th sheet.

I've measured and created a profile ("Staples Glossy Cone 1400.icm")
and I've have a measurement file for the Grays ("Staples Glossy 1400 Grays.xml")

How do I get to the next step of creating a profile INCLUDING the Grays?

I hope there is someone there to give me a clue as I'd love to get back to printing.

Thanks

   Steven

Check the menus and see if there is a menu command for merging
measurement sets. If not, you will need to select the four page
template, and remeasure the patches into it.

Re: Need help with Extended Grays

2010-03-07 by Phiegze

I'm using Spyder Print 3.5b WinXp

When I choose 720 patches on 3 sheets it doesn't include the grays.
So I print the three sheets

Then I want the Extended grays with any other target so I print that.

I go to the read patches page and under "Save measurements to" I can choose EITHER 729, 3 sheet OR Extended Grays

I can save measurements to a new file "New test file"
Then what? Do I go back to "save measurement to" and make a gray measurement set?

If I do does that OVER WRIGHT or ADD to the original 729 file?

If I choose "Select an existing measurement file from the list" there is no file for the "new text file extended grays" so I have to create one. Which brings me back to how to do that?

If I go to the "save measurements to.."
I get the message? A file named " 'test file.xml' aleady exists".
It does not say at that point if the new file adds to or overwrights the 729 patches!!

What am I supposed to do?

One thing that seems reasonable is to "select an existing measurement file from the list below" and hope I can choose my 729 set and ADD the grays, but no such luck - too simple. The is no way to check the check box where it says " 'Use extended Gray' from:" so Im stuck on that route.

I am guessing you are too close to this software to see this.
That's normal

What is extraordinary is how quick you are to give help.

  Thanks

You will probably want to update to Spyder3Print SR... It's a free

Any version that starts with a 4 should say SR at the end of the

Yes.

- For Macs: the Universal Binary installer and application are fully
Snow Leopard compatible. The software runs natively on all PPC and
Intel processor Macs with OSX 10.4 and later.

- For PCs: Improved compatibility with Vista and Windows 7.

- Simplified/revised/streamlined workflow and user interface.

- Enhanced printing mechanism for targets - you can print all
pages of multi-page targets with one click of the Print button, or
just print the currently visible page in the UI.

- New targets, including "EZ" Targets with larger patches and automatic
measurement checking. Older targets from previous versions are now
grouped into a category called "Classic" targets.

- Faster profile building.

- Strip reading capability for faster measurements, *when used with the
new "SR" spectro, you CANNOT strip read with the original DC1005.

- WIth the original DC1005, measuring time is reduced from previous
versions (the short time between the "start" and "stop" measuring
sounds) and so, measuring speed and responsiveness are improved.

- Many other enhancements and changes.

- Note: Extended Grays as standalone measurements files are no longer
supported during the profile building process, and are no longer
provided in the software as a separate, 1 page printable target.
Extended Grays are now provided as an extra page ("Classic" targets)
or an extra two pages ("EZ" targets). You will always measure ALL
pages that will be used to build a profile into a single measurement
file for profile building from now on (for example, a 4 page target
in which the first 3 pages are 729 colors and the last page is
Extended Grays). If you have older "stand-alone" Extended Grays
measurement files from previous versions, you can combine them with
a 225 or 729 patch measurement file by using the Tools:Merge command.
