Horrible yellow skin after calibration with Spyder Pro 3
2012-11-06 by paweldolinski
I have calibrated 2 monitors with Spyder Pro 3 (with the newest available software), one was an old Samsung LCD and the other is Asus VE248H. I use Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6. In both cases I had a horrible yellow cast, mostly visible on the skin in the shadows. Some photos look ok (although rather warm and yellowish), but some look absolutely dreadful, to the point that it's actually funny looking at them (imagine someone who has used too much of a self tanning lotion). At first I thought that maybe the calibration was right and maybe it's the camera issue (I read about yellow cast in Nkon's shadows), but then I had some of the photos printed in a professional lab and they are not yellow. I have been playing with different settings, the closest I got to the look from the printed photos was when I turned the calibration off and changed the color space to sRBG in the control panel (the photos were printed in sRGB). Adobe RGB doesn't look too bad either. I am new to the whole color management thing, but I have been googling a lot and it looks like I am not the only one with bad calibration results:( I was wondering if anyone has an idea how to fix it? I am really frustrated, I have spent the last 2 evenings fiddling with the settings and I am really over it. Thanks, Kasia
