Newbie Issues.

Newbie Issues.

2014-08-16 by idesofmarc@...

So.. just got my Spyder4 elite. Nothing seems to work right.... for example when I tried to calibrate my secondary monitor Viewsonic mh2703 I get to the screen where it states to "adjust the brightness backlit control within 4% of the target values." Once I ran it and got Target Value: 120. / Current: 268. so I open the brightness slider and move it down 1 notch from 96 to 95. I upate and it comes back with TV: 120. Curr: 19. -- !!! What the hell?Every time I have tried calibrating it, evey time I get to this point the same thing happens. After being given the initial TV / Current numbers.. I open and move the brightness slider one degree the current values that comes back far light years away form what was given to me initally. Finally I just accept anything to move on and finish. Furthermore -- trying to match the Asus laptop's monitor to the Viewsonic.. and the colors are light years away. I can't find the gamut numbers for this monitor. I can't even be sure I got the damn things reset to factor defaults.. so I downloaded the latest Viewsonic drivers and intalled them. NO changes. Nothing is working! I am having trouble every step of the way. PLLEAAASEEE HELP MEEEEE

This is exactly the type of situation that Datacolor Support is excellent at working out. Please go to <http://support.datacolor.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit> and provide as many details as possible, and let them unsnarl this for you.

LOL. NOT really.

I went a couple rounds with their "tech support" and then promptly got what amount to the kiss off with the message:

"In the end, all this depends upon the quality of your monitor. If you can't
reach the target luminance within the 4%, try to get as close as physically
possible, than simply hit CONTNUE."
