I have tried in the past to obtain from Yamaha the official MIDI velocity to physical hammer velocity mapping for the Disklavier, but this table was considered "confidential proprietary information" and the engineering department in Japan refused to release it. (Which makes little sense, since someone determined to get this information could simply measure it from a couple of Disklaviers in the field. Wayne Stahnke came up with a pretty good approximation by ear, used for translating between SE/LX format and Disklavier-style MIDI velocities, but it's not based on physical measurements.) Anyway, with such a table for the Disklavier and a similar table mapping MIDI velocities to simulated hammer velocities in the the piano synthesis software, one could theoretically get the mapping exactly right.
