Good morning, Everyone. In a message dated 3/3/02 11:07:55 AM, Jeff writes: << Hello all I have an older upright lavier mx80 series. I have discovered all the the midi files that are available and would love to play them on my piano. I have been able to convert the midi files over to .fil files and have made the pianodir on the disk but my player still tells me I have an unformatted disk. I am using 2hd disks, is this the problem? Do I need the double density disks? I have been able to do what I have so far due to this site. Thanks a million Jeff >> Your particular Disklavier requires double-density (DD) disks. I would like to offer the suggest that you will have a far more enjoyable experience with your instrument if you add a Yamaha DSR1 to it. The DSR1 looks and functions almost exactly like the control unit on a Mark IIXG Disklavier. It connects to your old control unit via MIDI. It will give you most of the modern Disklavier features, such as support for SMF Type 0 and 1, conversions between both types of SMFs and E-SEQ, a built-in tone generator, support for HD disks, et cetera.
