RE: [disklavier] Format a 720 Disk with Windows XP

2002-10-03 by Buddhika

Hi, Stocken,

The first time I can contribute to the disklavier group.!

I live in Sri Lanka where there is not much available in the way of
hardware. It was impossible to find 720k double density floppy's
locally.
Hence I have formatted the 1.44 2HD floppy's to double density 720 using
normal format on dos mode. You can also do it by windows by going to my
computer and right clicking (I think) to format and then select the type
as 720k but it takes a little longer. Before you format the trick is
that you need to cover the extra hole on the left side in the 2HD
diskettes (not the write protect tab but the other) using some paper and
tape as thin as possible so that you want get the disk stuck in the
drive.

Once you are in dos mode write and if you are on C: drive then you need
to write c:\format a:/f:720
If you need to check other switches just type c:\format/?

This should give you all the other formats as well.
