Re: [disklavier] USING A PC FOR JUKE BOX ON MX80

2003-02-11 by Carol Beigel

Thank you for reminding me that the MX80 does not have a tone generator, and
that Eseq format is only for using the floppy disk drive. Of course any DKV
will play midi data on channel 1 (and maybe channel 2 as well?) from a
computer.

It seems to me that you would be able to insert a Yamaha Eseq floppy disk
into the DKV, push Play button, and record to a computer using the MIDI Out,
thereby creating a midi file of whatever was on the disk. Then you could
use a Midi Player or Jukebox program to create playlists of the midi files
you made from your Yamaha disks.

I think 3 midi jukebox players work all right. The free one, van Basco's
Karaoke player; Midi Plus 2.17 (shareware by Haris Volos) and Nick
Gravagne's Midi Box Player ($9.95).

The trick to using van Basco's Karaoke player is to click the little note in
the top left corner to access the setup and playlist functions. This
program is available for free download from Spencer Chase's website
