Allan, Yes, you can play your DKV using your laptop. (This task does not require a high performance machine at all.) You will need to get an external MIDI interface for your laptop. It doesn't sound as though your older laptop would have a USB interface, so you will probably want a 1 X 1 MIDI interface such as a Midiman Portman PC/P MIDI Interface which connects to your computer's parallel port. Once the interface is installed, Cakewalk will no longer complain about the lack of a soundcard. You will need to convert E-SEQ files to MIDI in order to play them using Cakewalk as a sequencer. You can convert E-SEQ files to SMF1 (MIDI) using the Giebler Utilities (www.giebler.com). There is not much to setting it all up. Connect the laptop's MIDI output to the DKV's MIDI input. Set Cakewalk so that the piano part of the file is directed to channel #1 and set the the DKV's MIDI input for channel #1. If the file you are playing also has continous pedal data directed to channel #3, set the DKV's MIDI Input instead to CH=HP.
