The problem with a laptop running Windows 95 is that the operating system 
does not support USB even though there may be a USB port on the laptop.  
Also, with laptops that old, there is a power problem using the USB port.  
Usually, one has to go out and buy a powered USB hub to get enough power to 
run such a device.

It is much simpler to buy a MIDI interface that has EITHER a parallel or 
serial port.
