Allan,

You will need the MIDI interface if you wish to drive the DKV and/or the 
MU-90 Tone Generator from your laptop using a sequencer such as 
Cakewalk.  Think of the tone generator as another instrument in parallel 
with the DKV.

Carol has a good point that you may wish to get a MIDI interface such as 
a Midiman Portman PC/P MIDI Interface or a Roland interface that 
attaches to your computer's parallel port. That would avoid the risk of 
the USB port (on your older model laptop) not being able to supply 
sufficient power.  You would also be able to stay with Win 95.  A 
parallel port is likely to be a little less fuss getting installed than 
a serial port.  A non-USB interface will need to be powered by a wall-wart.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
