Re: [disklavier] Tips an experience in usign Disklavier with midi...(1)

I think I have also had the same problems. You look at the data, with the
velocity numbers okay, and the piano still plays too loud. I do know that
when I use veloset or gnmidi, the problem goes away. I like numbers between
30 and 60 for the piano parts. Velocity is not the same as volume when it
comes to translating midi data into how loud the hammer strikes the string
in a mechanical piano action. You just have to play around with the numbers
to suit your instrument.

The XG loudness is controlled on the DKV control box under the Balance. The
TG (tone generator) balance can be set between 0 and 128. This controls the
XG sounds you hear through the speakers you use.

Silent pianos also have a second built-in amplifier that controls what you
hear through the headphones. I suspect your midi files play just fine at
the settings that sound right for your pc using the headphones.

You can also set the MIDI time delay to 500ms or turn it off.
