I've been lurking in the shadows after my disastrous beginning with DUG. I now realize that this DUG site is waaaaaaaaay over my head; I understand little about what you're talking. I'd hoped that we beginners could glean useful information and tips, and LEARN the Disklavier. Instead, it's far too technical for novices. You've moved on to the finer points, while we're still trying to master elementary features. (For instance, I STILL can't get the piano volume down to a pleasant level, and figuring out how to adapt MIDI's is nearly impossible--even after using a special program, my Disklavier does what it wants.) No, this site isn't for newcomers, who know nothing about the Disklavier. Matter of fact, after monitoring the chat since January, I'm even more confused. I mean, I don't even KNOW what a Pianodisc is, let alone whether or not its inclusion in the discussion goes against the rules set forth by DUG. (I say, is there a beginner's DUG?) And, alas, I must reiterate (even if it's blashphemous) that so far, my new Yamaha Mark II XG is NOT worth its price. It's disappointing, and I'm so envious of you who have "figured it out". Diane Rebbec (dinycat) Illinois PS. In reference to my having a glass of wine before dinner--it doesn't preclude my being able to function, and it certainly isn't what's causing my difficulties with the Disklavier. Unless, of course, one isn't nearly enough. Ha.
