Since you are using Vanbasco, I assume you are using standard MIDI files.
Perhaps the volume (controller 7) is set too high in the MIDI data.  Try
running the Veloset program on some of those MIDI files and turning the
volume down to 60.  You could also try the new Yamplayer which plays Yamaha
ESEQ files from a play list.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
