Disklavier

Thanks, Carol.  Yamaha's SRP for the DSR-1 is $1395. The local dealer
claimed it was $1495 and would sell the unit to me for $1295. This would
give my piano the ability to play "Smart Piano Soft" along with some
commercial CD's.  Have you heard any of these?  Would the DSR-1 give
better sounds for the "synthesized" MIDI instruments?  Those coming from
the XG unit are not always the best. I'm trying to justify spending the
extra money for the DSR-1.  I would appreciate any input.
 
I don't think the dealer intentionally tried to mislead me, but he
didn't tell me about other pianos in the DKV line, just the digital
piano, and I went into the buying experience with 'eyes wide shut'.

A DSR-1 retails for $1295 from a Yamaha dealer. For anyone ever buying a
"specific" piano, ALWAYS write down the serial number of the unit you
think
you are getting!!!!  Having been in this business for over 25 years I am
familiar with the scenario whereby what the customer hears is not what
the
salespeople intended.  Salespeople can also be misinformed - especially
when
trying to piece together a "great deal" that just does not exist.
Perhaps
this dealership sold not only Disklavier, but PianoDisc or QRS as well.
A
newbie salesperson might not be aware that a Disklavier is ONLY factory
installed.

I am happy that you are pleased with your purchase.  I doubt you got
ripped
off.  You have a new instrument with a terrific warranty.  You got a
price
you were happy with.  Perhaps they can also make you a good deal on the
DSR-1!
