To add to Carol's note, the "self-calibration" affects only the Disklavier's recording and playback features, not how the standalone piano plays manually from the keyboard. Your tech probably first spent time, in addition to tuning, to insuring acoustic regulation--that is, making sure that the keyboard and pedals were adjusted and properly operating. A state of acoustic regulation is a prerequisite for the service done using the Test and Maintenance Modes.
