Bob,

I am not totally sure that I am following you in terms of your Mark IV 
"...plays certain notes on playback (on its own - not part of the midi 
recording)" when you "turn on the remote before the piano is fully 
loaded".  I operate my DC3M4t fully from the PRC-100 or the TRC-100 
wireless remotes including bringing the Mark IV out of sleep mode with 
either of those remotes, and, when I am finished playing the Mark IV, 
using either of these remotes to place the Mark IV in the standby or 
sleep mode.  I can then begin to play or record any selection without 
any problems.  I have never noticed the Mark IV playing any notes "on 
its own" that are not a part of the midi file.  You may wish to have 
your DC3M4t checked out by a technician or give Yamaha support a call.  
Something does not sound right with regard to your Mark IV.
