As always, George has more extensive knowlege of
MIDI than I ever will, but I would explain it a little differently. While
the piano is playing the file, push the -> (right arrow key) and you will
immediatly see what is going on with your Disklavier. You will see all the
MIDI parts that are playing whether you hear them or not. Usually L=1 and
R=## if you are only hearing one channel. Your Disklavier plays the keys
on your piano from whatever information is on Channel 1 and Channel 2.
Just hit the -> again until it is sitting on ## and make R=2. This will
get you through to the end of the song, then everything resets to whatever you
had before you touched anything.
To make the change the setting R=##, go to the
chapter on Import Files (which is what Yamaha refers to as MIDI files) in your
Owner's Manual, and follow George's directions. I doubt is makes much
difference whether R is set to 2 or Prg. Sometimes I think it just works
better to set L=1 and R=2.

Using a laptop and VBKP software, my Mk III only played the right hand. Using Cakewalk, I determined that the left hand was on channel 2 and the right hand on channel 1. Is there a way to set-up the Player to output the left hand on channel 1 so both hands will play on my Mk III?;In CW, I used the track properties to output on Channel 1. However, I was unable to find a way to do rhis in van Basco using the Help function. Can anyone help? I don't mind direct replies as I am anxious for a solution. Thanks.Bob Gonzalez
