I\u2019ll offer a few points and hope to answer your questions.

You listened to a C2 and a GC1 and noticed a difference between the 2 pianos. The C2 is a larger piano and larger pianos generally sound \u201cbetter\u201d than smaller pianos.

\u201cLarger pianos generally have longer bass strings, a larger soundboard and a heavier iron frame. Therefore larger pianos tend to have:

louder tone and wider dynamic range

less inharmonic spectrum of the radiated tone

less "stretched" tuning of the bass section

slower decay of high partials in bass tones

wider spectrum (brighter timbre) of bass tones

more regular spectrum of tones

different character of treble tones\u201d

Therefore, it is not surprising that the larger C2 will sound better than the GC1 (assuming of course, all other things being equal). Similar logic dictates the C3 will sound better than both of them.

There are some other differences between the GC1 and C2/C3 lines. The GC1 borrows from the Conservatory line and has duplex scaling, but its middle pedal is bass sustain and not full sostenuto. The majority of pieces don\u2019t use the middle pedal, so it might not be a big deal. Keep in mind that the GC1 comes in a \u201cplayback only\u201d model which doesn\u2019t have hammer sensors. The DGC1m4 does have hammer sensors.

No. The sensors are for recording and don\u2019t affect play-back at all.

Some other things to keep in mind is that the GC1 doesn\u2019t have a soft-close fallboard or fallboard locks. These might be important if you have little fingers around the piano.
