Good morning, everyone, and greetings from the Virtual Audition playback of the e-Junior Competition at Yamaha Artist Services in NYC. Just to clarify the delay situation: Normally when the Disklavier is set to receive MIDI data from an external source, it receives the MIDI data and applies a 500 ms (i.e. 1/2 second) delay. It does this in order to calculate when to start moving the hammers so that they strike the strings at the correct times relative to each other. Without the 500 ms delay, the Disklavier starts the movement of each key the moment that a note-on message is received. Some number of milliseconds later you hear the hammer hit the string. The amount of delay, in this situation, is dependent upon the velocity of the note. The 500 ms delay corrects for this AND delays the playback of other MIDI tracks by the same amount.
