Re: [disklavier] Yamaha DSR 1

2008-07-28 by Carol Beigel

My thinking is that the DSR1 is made exclusively as a control box for a
Disklavier, and these are not portable! Even though there is a control
board inside the box, I believe the actual processing of the MIDI signals
are done on other boards located elsewhere on the piano.

If you want to record MIDI in a portable environment, why not buy a PC
laptop and a MIDI interface that is USB? The price of the laptop, possible
external drive, interface and software would probably cost a little more
than half of the $1295 price for the DSR1. MIDI data is small so it
wouldn't need much of a computer.
