Re: [disklavier] Yamaha DSR 1

Heyup!

"Now there's an easy way to give your MIDI-equipped Yamaha digital or
digital/acoustic piano recording, playback and other advanced
capabilities. Simply plug in the new DSR1 Digital Sequencer Recorder.
Ideal for MIDIPIANOs, and GrandTouch pianos, or an an upgrade for
earlier-model Disklavier pianos, the DSR1 harnesses the power of
today's Disklavier Mark IIXG technology to expand your piano's
capabilities and extend your musical horizons."

So looks like it just connects via MIDI to whatever device you have -
disklavier, clavinova, Nord Stage, V-Drums etc - and gives a
rudimentary sequencer. A ridiculously expensive way of doing things
though, and with really poor recording /editing facilities.

As you say, a laptop (or some other portable device) would be better,
if less robust. You can get dedicated midi recorders too - and some of
the small 2-track audio recorders also have a midi capability IIRC.
