Here's what I did with the Dereck Barnes files.
I unzipped them to my PC's hard drive.
I formatted a diskette (my Disklavier supports only the 720K format so I
use FORMAT A: /F:720 ).
I copied the PIANODIR.FIL onto the diskette first (I am somewhat
superstitious about this - I just think it should go first).
I then copied the rest of the Dereck Barnes files to diskette.
This diskette should be ready to pop into your Disklavier and play.
If this doesn't work for you then here's an alternate method that just has
to work for you.
You could try using the utilties in dkvutils.zip. I believe it is in the
"files" area (some day I hope to be able to get back into the Disklavier
eGroup but Yahoo insists on making it very difficult).
As before you unzip the files to your hard drive and format the diskette.
You then start EEXPLORE (one of the DKVUTILS utiltiies) and select "A:" for
the diskette location.
Using EEXPLORE, you then create the PIANODIR index file by right-clicking
on the name and selecting "Create Index".
Using a DOS command prompt window (or Windows Explorer), you then copy all
the Dereck Barnes files to diskette except for the PIANODIR.FIL.
Then go back to the EEXPLORE window and rebuild the index (by
right-clicking on PIANODIR.FIL) and selecting "Rebuild Index". You do this
twice, once to get the list of names and once to add the list to the
PIANODIR.FIL.
The diskette is now ready to pop into your Disklavier.
I use this utiltiy all the time and it works llike a charm.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [disklavier] Frustration part 2
My model is DKC100XG
Not sure I understand formatting the disk differently. Assumed that
a disk formatted under DOS would be all I needed.
For example, downloaded a zip file from DUG files "Dereck Barnes
Gospel for Disklavier" The note on the file says just unzip and
enjoy. I unzipped and the disklavier says "cannot execute".
Do not have advanced owners manual, will contact my dealer.
