Re: [disklavier] Transformation to "silent system"

The freeware dkvutils suite in our file vault contains veloset, which will also allow you to quickly and easily adjust key velocities. Be sure to work only on a copy, so as to not lose the original settings.

There are 2 ways I have found to effectively quiet a Disklavier. The first
is to cut pieces of sound-insulating foam to fit between the back posts
against the soundboard (back of the piano), or cut pieces of styrofoam and
cardboard egg crates to fit.

The second way is to buy the Giebler Yamaha DOM package utility software
from www.giebler.com and copy the songs on your Yamaha diskettes to your
hard drive, then modify the velocity (volume) as a percentage (I use 50%),
then copy the modified songs back onto a diskette.
