Thanks George I will look into the Cakewalk program. The question now is why doesn't the piano play what's written in the midi file and would I be able to correct the problem with the Cakewalk program. They are on/off messages (i.e. values 127 and 0) with no incremental messages. Sonar Home Studio from Cakewalk is a very fine sequencer for under $100. It works on Windows systems.
